Welcome the application platform for the International PhD Program in Plant Sciences - Plants for Life.
Please read carefully the following guidelines before filling in the application. You will not be able to submit a separate file with your CV. All the required information should be supplied in this electronic application form.

  • Start the process by registering here.
  • You will receive a mail message to activate your account. If you do not receive it, please check your spam box.
  • Use English throughout the application.
  • If you have no information for a given field, write “Not applicable”. Blank boxes are not allowed.
  • All the text fields have character limits.
  • Please check the admission criteria in the PhD program website. If you have not completed your Masters degree at the time of the application, please indicate in the “Professional Experience” field : i) your current average grade, ii) the number of ECTS credits completed relative to the total credits required for the Masters degree, and iii) the expected date of conclusion.
  • Reference letters: in the right-hand tab you can insert the name of up to three persons and their e-mail, who we will contact directly to ask for an assessment about you (two reference letters are strictly required). They will be provided with an online form for their reference, which must be submitted by October 25th 2017. Please insert their name and e-mail soon after registering, so we can contact them early on to give them enough time to write the reference (it is not necessary to have your application complete at that stage; only your name is required).
  • Your degree certificates should be submitted as a single pdf file. Both Bachelor and Masters certificates must be submitted. If you are admitted, the originals will then be requested. If you have not yet completed your Masters degree include a list of curricular units and classifications (academic transcripts).
  • Your application must be submitted by  October 22nd 2017 at 24:00 GMT. Make sure that you have checked the submit box before saving. All submitted applications will be given a registration number and their receipt will be acknowledged by e-mail. Incomplete applications will be disqualified.
The selection of candidates is a two step process. In the first stage a number of candidates will be selected for an interview on the basis of the submitted application and reference letters. Candidates will be informed about the outcome of the first selection round by November 10th 2017. The selected candidates will be invited for an interview (possible by Skype for foreign residents), which will take place between December 4th and December 7th 2017. If you are selected for an interview, you will need to make a 10 min oral presentation. We advise you to start preparing the presentation and interview in advance.
